Pendergrass, Shelvia Jean (Jeanie)

Shelvia Jean (Jeanie) Pendergrass, 72, of Blacksburg died Monday, November 5, 2012, in the care of her daughter and son. She was born in Blacksburg on December 12, 1939, to the late Mark Jennings and Ida Brown Slusser. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Inez Epperly, Loella Dowdy; brothers, Ralph Slusser, Glennie Slusser and Logan Slusser. She is survived by those who will cherish her memory and will be sadly missed by her daughter, Lehonna Pendergrass; son, Lynn Pendergrass, grandson, Dakota “Cody” Pendergrass, all of McCoy; sister and brother-in-law, Lou and Lamah Lafon, of Blacksburg; brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur and Carol Slusser, of Newport News; special nieces, Wanda Lawson and Glenna Jarrell; numerous nieces and nephews; and special pet, Kobé (too-too). Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
