James N. Peck, 67, of Pearisburg, Va., left this world on Thursday, April 1, 2010, to be an angel in Heaven as he was to us here on Earth. He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Peck; and mother, Kathleen M. Peck. He was a retired supervisor at Alliant Tech Systems, formerly Radford Arsenal. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Betty Collins Peck. Their love for each other brought into this world two children, Mike Peck, of Pearisburg, and Donna P. Davison, of Moneta. Dad’s love made us strong and his gentle kindness showed us how to love. He provided us a foundation for our own families and with Dad’s unending sense of family he accepted son-in-law, Kenny Davison; and daughter-in-law, Judy Peck; into our family not as in-laws, but as his son and daughter. A proud pawpaw to Taylor Peck, Katie Davison, Allie Davison, Mandy Murphy and Hunter Gautier, watching them grow and play would light up his face as pride spilled out for the world to see. Separated by miles, but connected by love he is survived by his brother, John Peck and wife, Juanita Peck; and nephews, Gary and Eddie Peck, of Fredericksburg. He will be sadly missed by his extended family of brothers and sisters. Bound not by blood, but by years of sharing love and laughter, Bonnie Osborne, of Fairmont, Wayne and Janice Collins, of Shawsville, Doug and Mary Collins, of Narrows, Donnie and Doretta Collins, of Pembroke, and Willis and Diane Riggs, of Pearisburg. We will hold forever in our hearts his smile and the deepness of his gentle blue eyes. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home on Sunday evening, April 4, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. Online condolences can be sent to the family at givensfuneralhome.com.
