Mable Powers Shrewsberry Peake, 85, of Pulaski, Va., died on Sunday, November 23, 2008, in the New River Valley Medical Center, Radford. She was born on May 31, 1923, in Rural Retreat, Va., and was the daughter of the late Emory Cooper Powers and Alma Vaughan Powers.

She was also preceded in death by her husbands, William R. Shrewsberry and Troy Alvin Peake; seven brothers; and one sister. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pulaski.

Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas Russell Shrewsberry Sr. and Phyllis, of Sparta, N.J., and Dennis M. Shrewsberry, of Radford, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Ellen Ingles and Leslie, of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren and spouse, Thomas R. "Rusty" Shrewsberry Jr., of Staunton, Va., Kathy Whitman and Shane, of Greensboro, N.C., Tick Tilley, of Naples, N.Y., Scott Ingles, of Charlotte, N.C., and Laura Ingles, of Charlotte, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren, Benjamen Russell Shrewsberry and Brooke Taylor Shrewsberry, both of Staunton, Brandon E. Hall, William Curtis Whitman, and Sydney Grace Whitman, all of Greensboro, N.C., and Nikolas Michael Tilley and Isaiah Michael Tilley, both of Naples, N.Y.; sisters and brother-in-law, Ethel Lewellyn, of Pulaski, and Erma Jean and Tom Marshall, of Pulaski; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas G. and Anna Powers, of Pulaski, and Allan G. and Opal Powers, of Pulaski.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 27, 2008, from the First Presbyterian Church, Pulaski with the Rev. Jeff Kackley officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be held on Wednesday evening, November 26, 2008, at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.
