Payne, Henry Estel

Henry Estel Payne, 81, of Bluefield, Virginia, formerly of Floyd, Virginia, died Monday May 24, 2021. Born on June 6, 1939, in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late John Clark Payne and Lillian Taylor Payne.

Mr. Payne was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Floyd Country School Board, and had previously worked at Bailey Lumber Company, and Grandview Memory Gardens. He was a member of The Little White Church in Floyd County for over 30 years where he was a Sunday school teacher and held many other positions.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his siblings, Louise Hood, Ila Fields, Bertha Asbury, Carl Payne, and Sheryl Greynolds; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Angie Miller and her family.

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday June 1, 2021, at The Little White Church, 3123 Daniels Run Road, Check, VA 24072, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Moore officiating. Music will be provided by The Sounds of Harmony. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the service hour.

Private burial will be held at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia.
