patton_john_wileyJohn Wylie Patton Jr., 83, of Radford, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. He was born on March 27, 1927, the son of the late John W. Sr. and Rosa Lee Walker Patton. He was a member of the New Mount Olive Methodist Church and a United States Army veteran having served during World War II. Survivors include four children, Debra F. Hendricks, of Radford, Karen L. Rose, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Russell W. Patton, of Southlake, Texas, and Gregory S. Patton, of Placentia, Calif.; spiritual son and his wife, Joe and Melissa Webb, of Radford; grandchildren, Lamar T. Hendricks, of Dublin, and Jonathan D. Rose and Nicole S. Rose, both of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; a greatgrandchild, Kyara D. Hendricks, of Dublin; brothers and sisters, Donald W. Patton, of San Francisco, Calif., Curtis C. Patton, of Beaumont, Calif., Robert L. Patton Sr., of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Peggy L. Hunter, of Pearland, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of lifelong friends. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2010, at the New Mount Olive Methodist Church in Radford with the Rev. Barbara Doyle and the Rev. C. Coles Casey officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2010, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the New Mount Olive Methodist Church Children’s Fund in John Patton’s name.
