Patterson, Sr., Samuel Dewey

Samuel Dewey Patterson, Sr., age 78 of Fairlawn, died Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Lewis Gale Hospital – Montgomery. Sam was born on August 8, 1944 in Pulaski and was the son of the late Lillian Alberta Price Patterson and the late Ira Claude Patterson, Sr. He was proudly the creator of the Riverlawn District Recreation Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Samuel Dewey Patterson, Jr.: brothers; Ira Claude Patterson, Jr., Terry Patterson, and Jimmy Patterson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lois Ellen Patterson of Fairlawn: two daughters; Kathy Patterson of Dublin, and Karen Murray of Fairlawn: special son and best friend; Adam Phillips: sister; Linda P. Hurley of Tampa, Florida: Sister-in-law; Joann Patterson of Richmond, VA: brother; Billy Patterson of Lakeland, FL. Also survived by three grandchildren; Stone Michael Murray, Abigail Rose Murray, and Serra Lynn Patterson.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home, with Anthony Akers officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Flowers will be appreciated, but for those who wish, they may make memorial contributions in his memory to the Fairlawn Recreation Department or to the American Diabetic Association P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, Virginia 22116-70223.
