Jeffrey W. (Bubba) Patrick, 43, of Salem, and formerly of Radford, died Friday January 14, 2011 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born December 2, 1967 in Detroit, Michigan. Bubba worked for the Safety Patrol Division of VDOT for many years. Numerous articles and television stories told of his acts of kindness and bravery during emergency situations. Bubba was a gentile giant who never had an enemy. He was once featured as a Hometown Hero on WDBJ 7, and received a Presidential Gold Award for volunteerism. He was a proud graduate of Radford High School. His biggest passion in life was volunteering with the American Red Cross, where he taught CPR, and was a certified Paramedic. He is survived by his wife, Laura Patrick of Salem; his father and mother, Jerry and Beverly Patrick of Pulaski; his sister and her husband, Debbie and Phillip Linkous of Christiansburg; one niece and nephew, Kayla and Brady Linkous of Christiansburg; and one special adoptive nephew and best friend, Ryan Baxter of Radford; and his grandmother, Catherine Patrick of Dublin. Also survived by several aunts; uncles; and cousins. A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 8 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home in Pulaski. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Jeff requests that no one send flowers, but make donations in his memory to the American Red Cross of Roanoke, Virginia or just simply give a pint of your blood to the Red Cross.
