Pass, Grace Whittaker
Grace Ida Givens Pass, 89 of Pulaski, Va., departed this life for her heavenly home on Monday morning, August 24, 2009, at New River Valley Medical Center in Radford. Born in Craig County on Johns Creek on January 5, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Watson and Annie Mae Wright Whittaker. She was retired from the Celanese Plant at Narrows and was a devout member of New Life Tabernacle in Pulaski. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry V. Givens, Bishop Calvin G. Brown, and Jack Pass; her daughter, Linda Lou Dunbar; her brother, Clay Whittaker; her sisters, Nettie Meredith, Georgia Anderson, and Willie Parker; and her grandchildren, Pamela Kirk Collins, Lucinda Burnett, and Gary Holstein. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Harold (HL) Givens, of Pulaski; her daughters, Joann Kirk, of Pulaski, and June Diehl, of Cincinnati, Ohio; her eight grandchildren; her 16 great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2009, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Tommy Ramsey, Pastor Lathan Gravely, and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Huffman Memorial Park in Craig County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, August 26, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to a funeral memorial fund at Kendall Funeral Home.
