Mrs. Shelva Jean Redd Peoples Montgomery Parks, Age 74, of Pembroke, VA. Went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Bland County Nursing and Rehab Center, Bland, VA. Born October 25, 1945 In Allisonia, Virginia to the late James Richard and Lucy Bulter Redd.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Garnett Peoples, Bobby Lee Montgomery and Everett Parks. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Lee Redd, Richard Walter “Dickie” Redd and William Thomas “Tommy” Redd, Paternal Grandparents, William And Sarah Wood Redd, Maternal Grandparents, James and Ada Shucks and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.

Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pembroke where she was the church clerk for many years, Dedicated choir member, head of the kitchen committee and past member of the usher board. Jean retired from New River Community Action after many years of service as the Area Director.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, James Garnett “Jimmy” Peoples and Phyllis Horn of Pembroke, Grandson, Adam Peoples and fiancé Lindsey Osborn of Christiansburg, Great Grandson, Isaiah Peoples of Natural Bridge, Step-Daughter, April Harper of NC, Step- Son, Everett Jermaine Parks of NC. Sisters, Elizabeth Peoples of Pulaski, Madeline Howard of Princeton, WV. Mary Brooks of Pulaski, Edith Boysaw and husband, Anthony of Pulaski, Charlotte Montgomery and husband, Jerry of Pembroke, Katherine Williams of Pembroke, Brenda Redd of Pulaski, Brother, James Redd and wife, Drema of Pulaski, Aunts, Frances Muse of Roanoke and Sarah Redd of Roanoke. A host of Nieces, Nephews, Sister-In-Laws, Brother-In-Laws and Friends. Special Friends, Stevanna Wynn, Carol Hodge, Ann Hicks and Janet Johnson.

Pallbearers and Flower Girls are Nieces and Nephews.

Jeans family is deeply grateful to everyone who said a prayer, sent cards, telephone calls, telegrams, visits, sent flowers or sat in a corner and just listened. The family would also like to thank Pastor Marcus Turner and all who will be having part in Jeans Homegoing Celebration. The family thanks Kendall Funeral Home and their Staff for their service and everything they have done to make this process easier and a special thank you to Pastor Joann Carper.

There will be a Homegoing Service on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. In the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel in Pembroke with Pastor Marcus Turner officiating. The burial will follow in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 12 Noon until the service time.
