parks david edwinDavid Edwin “Eddie” Parks, age 70, of Dublin passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 in the Lewis Gale Hospital, Salem. Born December 22, 1941 in Roanoke, Virginia, he was the son of the late Martha Kareen Parks Glass & step-father, Lt. Colonel Marvin M. Glass. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice Faye Sheffey Parks.

He was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church. Eddie was a 1960 graduate of Pulaski High School and a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor & Masters degree. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and sports fan especially Virginia Tech and Pulaski County Cougars. Eddie was a retired insurance agent for American General Insurance Company. He was a member of the Henry Clay Lodge, # 280 where he was a Past Master.

Surviving- Daughter and Son-in-law- Denise Renee and Timothy B. Sneeringer –Scot Depot, WVA., Grandchildren- David Jonah, Simon Timothy, & Rachael Isabella Sneeringer, Sister and Brother-in-law- Carol Varone Guionnaud and Rene’ Guionnaud- Chattanooga,TN., Sister-in-law- Margaret Shaw-Radford. Brothers-in-law- Donald Sheffey-Dublin, Robert Sheffey-Fayetteville,NC, Aunt-Frances Parks-Pulaski, Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 A.M. at the Dublin United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathie Wilson-Parker officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski followed by a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. conducted by the Henry Clay Lodge # 280 of Dublin, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in his memory be sent to the American Heart Association or the Dublin United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 577, Dublin,VA 24084.
