Parkes, Eleanor Roth

Eleanor Frances Roth Parkes, 72, of Draper, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, after an unexpected hospitalization with the flu. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, Mimi, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend to everyone she met.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Alvin Earl Parkes; her daughters, Jennifer Lynne Parkes and Jody Lenore Parkes Mayer; son-in-law, Jon Mayer; grandson, Joseph Mayer; brother, Steve Roth (Susie); sister, Cindi Roth; and numerous loving extended family members.

She touched many lives in her career as a Registered Nurse at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and Greenbrier Respiratory Care in Lewisburg, W.Va., as well as American Home Patient in Salem, Va. After her retirement, she took great joy in her cardinals, sunflowers, gardening, canning, and horses.

The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. prior to a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Max Creek Baptist Church, 3000 Old Route 100 Rd., Draper, VA.
