Fred Vernon Paris Sr., 70, of 6102 Danny Ave., Dublin, died Friday afternoon, September 11, 2009, at his home. He was born in Wythe County on January 21, 1939 and was the son of the late Ernest Paris. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Todd Paris.

Mr. Paris worked for Aspen Motion Tech in Radford. He was a member of Dublin Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the Dublin Fire Dept., member of Henry Clay Masonic Lodge in Dublin, and a former Shriner.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine L. Paris, of Dublin; daughter and son-in-law, Natasha and David Greever, of Dublin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred V. and Juliann Paris Jr., of Hillsville and Tony and Teresa Paris, of Dublin; mother, Mary G. Hall, of Wytheville; grandchildren Laken Greever, Tanner Tanner, John Paris, Brittany Paris, Melinda Paris, Jessica Holcombe and Todd Paris; four great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, Amanda and Chris French; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two half sisters, Brenda Rogers, of Wytheville and Linda Stamper, of Wytheville; many nieces and nephews; and three very special friends, Roy Martin, Frankie Farley and Tom Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Dublin Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tagg officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Monday evening from Stevens Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service to follow at 8:30 p.m.
