Pannell, Robert Lee

Robert Lee “Bob” Pannell, 87, of Fairlawn, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Commonwealth Assisted Living. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and was a US Army WWII veteran. Bob retired from Volvo.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Viola Pannell, wife, Opal, and daughters, Sharon Spencer and Vicki Lynn Pannell.

Survivors include his loving wife, Evelyn G. Pannell of Fairlawn; sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Pansy Pannell of Greencastle, PA, and Randy and Tammy Pannell of Fairlawn; stepdaughters, Vicky Howard and husband Tony of Pilot and Sandy Ritter of Bland; stepson, Ricky Mathena and his wife Tracy of Bluefield; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and his canine companion, Heidi.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford with Rev. Russell Gordon and Rev. Ersell Alderman officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Radford where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites.

The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon at the church.
