Pannell, Mildred Akers

Mildred Akers Pannell, 93, born on September 22, 1928 in Alum Ridge, Va., a long time resident of Radford, Va. and recently of Charlotte, N.C. passed on Sunday, November 14, 2021 in the loving care of her nurses at the Hospice House of Union County in Monroe, N.C.

She is survived by two sons, Greg and his wife, Ann of Fort Mill, S.C., also Kim and wife, Teresa of Waxhaw, N.C. Grandchildren Amanda, Corey, Ashlie, Lucas, Colten and Lacey will miss her immensely along with several great-grandchildren who barely had a chance to know her. She is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Short of Newport News, Va. and Dorothy Rutter of Floyd, Va. Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lacy, their eldest son, Larry, daughter, Becky, and also her eldest grandson. Scott.

Nanny, as everyone called her, will be laid to rest in Dublin, Va. at Memorial Gardens beside Lacy and daughter Becky.
