Pannell, Marie Hazel

Marie Hazel Pannell, 91, of Radford, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011. She was born April 23, 1920 to the late Robert Lee and Macie McCoy Pannell.

She graduated from Radford State Teacher’s College and went on to teach in the public school system at Carroll and Pulaski Counties for 40 years. She was a lifetime member at First Christian Church in Radford where she served as elder for many years. Also, a member of the Professional Women’s Club in Radford.

Left to cherish her memory are nieces, Peggy Snyder Geary of LaGrange Ill., Sybil Farmer Powell of Richmond, Saundra Farmer Persinger of Prince George, Mary Francis Williams of Gainesville; nephew, Robert Lee Pannell II of Radford; and several great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday December 28, 2011 at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin with the Rev. Gina Rhea officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at DeVilbiss Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Christian Church in Radford. A service of remembrance will be held at a later date at the First Christian Church.
