Patrick Joseph Palmer Jr., 86, of Christiansburg, died Monday, March 12, 2012. He was born in Madison, N.J. on March 26, 1925, to the late Patrick Joseph Sr. and Anna Palmer. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Pat Palmer, a sister Gloria Faitoute.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army with General Patton.

He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Larry Cook, of Christiansburg, and Karen Palmer and Thomas Epperly, of Fairlawn; two sons, Robert Joseph Palmer and James Patrick Palmer, of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Kelly and Mike Barbour, Patrick and Cara Epperly, Matthew and Christina Cook, Lauren Cook and fiance, Chris Kennedy, Jessica Palmer and Christopher Palmer; one great-grandchild, Grayson Cook; two brothers, William Palmer, of Chatham, N.J. and Raymond Palmer, of Bermuda Run, N.C.; brother-in-law, Richard Faitoute, Summitt, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. A. Timothy Hight officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, in the Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018, or Alzheimer’s Association Central & Western VA Chapter-Roanoke Region, 2728 Colonial Ave. Suite 2, Roanoke, VA 24015.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
