Beulah Mae Boothe Owens, 98, of Snowville, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the New River Valley Medical Center. Born March 4, 1909, in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Monte Zuma and Mary Nora Boothe.

Mrs. Owens proudly spent 71 years dedicating her life to her business and her community. Over the years Beulah’s has been a gathering place for people across the area. Several generations have looked forward to coming to the store to meet their fellow neighbors, socialize, have a snack and watch the local children climb into the candy case. Ms. Beulah has maintained the tradition of the “old country store.” She remained a cornerstone of the community, while other businesses have come and gone. She has helped numerous families through difficult times by providing a helping hand.

Mrs. Owens had great love and pride for her family, some of her favorite days were those spent with them.
