osborne_hortense_bondHortense (Horty) Bond Osborne, 96, passed away on September 7, 2016, in Virginia Beach, VA, surrounded by her loving family. Born in St. Johns, Michigan on May 22, 1920, Horty attended Coldwater High School where she played several sports and was a class officer.

She attended business school before joining the WAVES during WW II. After the war she studied at Michigan State University where she met the love of her life Clark Osborne. They married and lived in Lansing, MI and Raleigh, NC, before moving to Blacksburg, VA where they raised their six children. Horty loved playing tennis, golf, bridge and board games and also enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. Most importantly she cherished her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Archie and Jennie Bond, brother Wilbur Bond, husband John Clark Osborne, and loving sister Gladys Vandenbelt. She is survived by her children Linda Cassell (Jerry), John Osborne (Mary Lynn), Phyllis Osborne (Bob Koch), Greg Osborne (Deb), Diane Osborne (Gary Yates), Barbara Koykkar (Joe), thirteen grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and many special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg on Saturday September 10, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Blacksburg Humane Society or Blacksburg United Methodist Church.
