Oliver Sr., Jerry Lee
Jerry Lee Oliver, Sr., age 57, walked from his earthly journey to his heavenly journey. His earthly journey ended Jan. 1 at 10:10 a.m.
He was a retired employee from Magnox, Inc. He was a loving husband, father, and friend to many.
He is preceded in death by two sons Sydney and Jeffey Oliver, one granddaughter Brittany LeighAnn Armes, his mother Louise Freeman Oliver, grandparents Alvin and Rose Freeman, Sydney and Alice Oliver, Greely and Mary Edwards, and Ollie and Luther Gallimore. He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law Alice Faye Gallimore Lawson, a niece Teresa Lynn Cook Cross and by a uncle Richard Lee Cook.
Surviving are: a loving and caring wife of 39 years, Mary Viola Gallimore Oliver; three loving children, Jerry Lee Oliver, Jr., Laurie Ann Oliver Armes, Duane Kenneth Armes; three precious grandchildren, Devin Wayne Armes, Darin Christopher Armes, Tiffany LeighAnn Armes; adopted children by Jerry after the death of their brother and mother, James Elmer Waller, Kathy Ann Gallimore Waller and their daughter Alisha Faith Waller; father, Raymond Lee Oliver; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Kindle Arnold, Patricia ?Patty? and Bobby Collins, Patricia and Jerry Duncan, Kaye and Danny Linkous, Debbie and Doug Adams; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Lucile Oliver, Rex and Debbie Gallimore, Tony and Lori Gallimore; brother, Victor Wayne Oliver; brother-in-law, Roger Lawson; sister-in-law, Tammy Gallimore and her daughter, Jenna Kemp; several special nephews and nieces.
We, the family, would like to give a special and loving thanks to Jerry’s friend and nurse, Claudia Jones. She will never know how much we love and appreciate everything she and Carilion Hospice have done for Jerry and his family.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. from the Peak Creek Mission of Prayer (Case Knife Road) with Rev. Dale Akers officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Peak Creek Mission of Prayer. Burial will follow the service in the Church Cemetery.
