Olinger, Charlotte Shelor

Charlotte Elizabeth Shelor Olinger, age 95, of Blacksburg died Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Heritage Hall Health Care. She was born in Blacksburg, VA on August 7, 1919 to the late Samuel Arthur and Effie Wade Hughes Shelor.

She is also preceded in death by her first husband, James Herman “Big Tator” Olinger, a son, Jerry Wayne “Tator” Olinger, sisters, Laura Lou Shelor Price, Virginia Bowyer; brothers Julius (Dude) Shelor, Arthur Frank Shelor and Jessie Miller Shelor.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Adams of California, Betty Bogert of Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Guy (Jimmy) and Janice Shelor of Blacksburg; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Olinger, mother of her grandchildren, Cindy Olinger Moses and husband Bobby, Michael W. Olinger, all of Christiansburg; several nieces, nephews and other family members; and a very special friend that was holding her hand at her passing, Lois Wade.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Hall for all their wonderful, loving care to Mrs. Olinger.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 3:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 pm Tuesday at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
