Lillian Pauline Hopkins O’Dell (Polly) was 78 when she heard those sweet and comforting words “Come on, My Child. We’re going home” on March 30, 2021 at her earthly home in Hiwassee, Virginia where she lived for 40 years.

Born in Smith County, Virginia on February 25, 1943 to Elsie Lee (Prater) Hopkins and Jack B. Hopkins, SR. Polly moved with her family to Rockville, Maryland in her teen years with her three sisters, Georgia, Daisy and Kay and three brothers, Jack Jr., Tom and Jimmy. Polly worked for Wades and Pulaski Health and Rehabilitation Center for many years in the kitchen.

Polly is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leonard M. O’Dell, SR. (Sonny), daughter – Theresa O’Dell, son – Rusty & Tania O’Dell.

Nanny gave so much to our family, she loved us with Agape Love. Nanny’s legacy will be passed on to three grandchildren – Misty & Hector Hernandez, Cody & Brittany O’Dell and Ashley & Todd Amann. It will also be passed to her amazing great grandchildren – Nicholas and Joseph Hernandez and Noah Amann.

Polly was a beautiful soul. Her memory will live on in all our hearts forever. Those biscuits and gravy will be missed. Per her request, there will be no services.
