Donald John O’Brien, 72, of Pulaski, went to be with his Lord Jesus Friday, November 18, 2011 in Lewis Gale Hospital-Pulaski. He was born September 5, 1939 in Manchester, NH, and was the son of the late Stella O’Brien Beaudry, and John O’Brien.

Donald was a retired supervisor for circulation of the Manchester Leader Newspaper, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, which provided him a proud membership of the V.F.W. Post 1184 in Pulaski. He has been a loyal member of Memorial Baptist Church in Pulaski, where his passion for photography led him to assist in founding the church photography club. He shared his life-long love of automobiles with enthusiasts while being a member and treasurer of the British Auto Club of Southwest Virginia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Cote. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Howes Lawson O’Brien, of Pulaski: three sons, Donald J. O’Brien Jr., of Raymond, NH, David O’Brien of Gonic, NH and Steven O’Brien, of the U.S. Coast Guard, daughter, Katherine Bailey and her husband, Mark, of New York State: one stepson, Wayne E. Lawson and his wife, Diana, of Lagrange, Ky.: a stepdaughter, Debra A. Morin and her husband, William, of Denver, Colo. He is also survived by four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and seven step great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday evening, November 22, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. David Lones officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
