Oakley, Gregory Paul
Gregory Paul Oakley, 45, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday June 14, 2013. Greg was born February 10, 1968, in Wichita, Kan. to James R. and Loretta Peters Oakley. In his early years, he was a member of the Pearisburg Baptist Church, for the last 23 years, he was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C.
He was a 1986 graduate of Giles High School, a 1988 graduate of New River Community College in Dublin and was an employee for the last 23 years with Flextronics in Charlotte, N.C. He was an avid Relay for Life supporter and member of the Eternal Flames Relay Team. Along with his parents, Greg is survived by his wife, Brenda Oakley; daughters, Kaylee “Pooh” Oakley, Kimberly Scott, Meghan Scott; sons, Justin Scott, Matthew Scott; sister, Teresa (Russell) Perdue; grandchildren, Aubrey Lemley, Ava Lemley, Emma Lemley, Lyla Scott, niece: Crystal (Mason) Boggess and their children, Rhea and Maresa Boggess. Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg with the Rev. Ted Anders and the Rev. Todd Millsaps officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church two hours before the service from noon to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
