Nunn, Fannie Stinson

Fannie Irene Stinson Nunn, 77, of Pulaski, Va., passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011, in the Pulaski Heath Care Center. Born on January 20, 1934, in Wythe County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Stephens Stinson Stoots.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ross Eugene Nunn; two sons, Eugene Nunn and Richard “Tom” Nunn; and one brother, John A. “Dickey” Stinson.

Fannie, Ross and their two sons made their home in Rochester, N.Y. Devoted to their family, Fannie and Ross shared many passions, gardening, landscaping and decorating their home with antiques. After raising their children, Fannie embarked on another career and became a department manager at K-Mart in Rochester. Upon the death of her husband, Ross, in 2006, Fannie moved back to Pulaski and resided with her sister-in-law, Dorothy Roop Roberts.

Surviving are her sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Richard Taylor, of Draper, and Doris Whitaker, of Ft. Chiswell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oscar and Pat Stouts, of Pulaski County, and David and Sharon Stoots, of Pulaski; stepsister, Mildred Phillips, of Pulaski; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with Pastor Dennis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at Bower Funeral Home, 1631 Bob White Blvd., Pulaski.

The family would like to thank the Rev. Dennis Jones and church members of the Dublin Baptist Church that visited Fannie over the years. Also, special thanks to Dr. Richard Williams and staff at Pulaski Health Care Center for their caring warmth and compassion and to her family doctor, Dr. David Bradley.
