Nowlin, Helen Burton Duncan

Helen Burton Duncan Nowlin, 87, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Ms. Nowlin was a member of Wabun Congregational Holiness Church. She was born on June 22, 1923. The daughter to the late George and Ethel Altizer Burton she was also preceded in death by her sons, Jimmy Duncan and Dwight Duncan; brothers, Esker Burton, Harless Burton and Harvey Burton; and sisters, Effie Altizer and Frances Hendricks. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Doris and David Farley, of Christiansburg, Brenda and Gary Shepherd, of Riner, Rebekah Corso, of Dublin, and Chris and Jessi Sutphin, of Christiansburg; and daughterin-law, Misty Duncan. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; sister, Marlene DeLung, of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at The Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
