Alice Price Noonkester, 78, of Prices Fork, Va., died Sunday, August 15, 2010, at her home. She was born in Montgomery County, Virginia on June 30, 1932, to the late Herman E. and Ora Smith Price. She was preceded in death by two brothers, David Price and Eugene Price. She was a charter member of St. Michael Lutheran Church, as well as a longtime volunteer at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was also a Cub Scout Master. Alice, along with her husband, Jim owned and operated several businesses in the Blacksburg area. She was an employee of Radford Army Ammunition Plant in the early 1950’s. She is survived by her husband, Jim Noonkester; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Sallie Noonkester, of Smith Mountain Lake, Va., Jay Noonkester and June Crawford, of Aiken, S.C., and Scott Noonkester, of Blacksburg; three grandchildren, Emilee Hall, Seth Noonkester, and McKinley Noonkester; sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Archie Montgomery, of Blacksburg; and her loving canine companion, Jessie. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 19, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the St. Michael Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Wertz officiating. Interment will follow in the New Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation , Inc., 7151 N.
