Newman Jr., John Carroll

John Carroll Newman, Jr., 94, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather went to be with his LORD and Savior on Friday, May 4, 2007.

John was retired from Allvac in North Carolina, and he moved to a farm in Roanoke County after his retirement. He was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia. John was born in Pulaski on February 6, 1913 a son of the late John C. and Gunell Larson Newman. He was married for 69 years to Myrtie Kirby Newman, who preceded him in death on April 18, 2002.

Mr. Newman leaves three loving children to cherish his memory, daughters, Carol N. Crockett and husband, Sam of Bluefield, Va., Micky N. Copeland of Roanoke, and son, Larson K. Newman and wife, Shirley of Hendersonville, N.C.; grandson, Michael Crockett and wife, Kathy; granddaughter, Patricia Povtak and husband, Jeff and great-grandson, Jacob K. Crockett.

The family will be holding a private memorial service. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial donations to the Acts 2 Ministry, 406 Luck Avenue, Roanoke, Virginia 24016.
