amem_lighthouse.jpgJoseph Roger (Joe) Newcomb, 85, of Radford, died Monday, April 3, 2006 in Pulaski Health Care Center. He was a lifetime member of the Belspring Baptist Church and an avid fan of the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Atlanta Braves. He was the former owner of Newcombs Grocery and Service Station.

Surviving are a sister, Barbara (Bobbi) Marzoa, Georgetown, Del.; a special nephew, Jack Newcomb and his wife, Barbara, Radford; a special niece, Margaret Leonard and her husband, Bob, Blacksburg; a sister-in-law, Rachael Newcomb, Radford; along with many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Belspring Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Ballew and the Rev. James Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park.

The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Pulaski Rehab Center and Dr. Richard Williams, and to the New River Valley Cancer Center and Dr. Ojomo. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford.
