Nester, Mabel Lucy Beasley

Mabel Beasley Nester, 93, of New River, Va., passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2009. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was born on October 3, 1915, to the late Richard and Hattie Beasley of Hillsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Nester; a daughter, Nancy Carolyn Nester; six brothers, Robert, Ervin, Chester, Cody, Paul and Joe Beasley; and three sisters, Verlie White, Hazel Semones and Helen Pace.

Left to cherish her memory is her son and daughter-in-law, Ivan and Ruby Nester, of Ferrum; grandchildren, Tina and Jon Hardy, of Springfield, Daren and Cheryl Nester, of Woodbridge, Alysia and Richard Bayliff, of Warrenton, and Lonnie and Shelley Sloan, of Ferrum; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a faithful member of Morgan’s Chapel UMC in New River and a retired employee of Radford Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Morgan’s Chapel UMC in New River with Pastor Darlene Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends at Mullins Funeral Home in Radford on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thaddeus Lee and to the staff of Carilion Hospice of Franklin County for their excellent care and compassion during her illness.
