Nelson, Clara Mooney

Clara Mooney Nelson, 89, of Pulaski, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Wesley Nelson; her parents, Henry Mooney and Ada Stoneman Mooney; one brother, the Rev. Lawrence Mooney; one sister, Lena Mooney Turman; and four children, Jimmy Max Nelson, Lawrence Wayne Nelson, Jewel Nelson Bond, and Carolyn Nelson Hasson. She was a long time member of The Midway Church of God of Prophecy. She is survived by one sister, Pauline Mooney Lavinder, of Roanoke, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Lois and F.D. Black, of Collinsville, Va., two sons and daughtersin-law, Danny and Joyce Nelson, of Chesterfield, Va., and Dickie and Judy Nelson, of Dublin, Va.; a dear sister-inlaw, Eva Sue Mooney Dean, of Pulaski, Va.; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and church members whom loved her. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010, from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Bishop Ken Baker and the Rev. George Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visitation will be held on Friday from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from noon until the service hour. The family will be meeting at the residence of the son and daughter-in-law, Dickie and Judy Nelson, 5915 Jewell Ave., Dublin, Va. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home Inc. Pulaski, Va.
