Carol Edison Neighbours, 81, of Check, Va., passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Neighbours, of Check, Va.; son, Tom and Vickie Neighbours, of Winston Salem, N.C.; foster son Carrol and Virginia Painter, of Spartanburg, S.C.; stepsons, Roy and Ina Whitlock, of Willis, Va., and Dennis and Karen Whitlock, of Floyd, Va.; stepdaughters, Gladys Whitlock, of Copper Hill, Va., and Louise and Kenny Newman, of Vinton, Va.; sisters, Frances Daniels, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jenneane and Sid Trent, of Deming, N.M.; brother, Marion and Joyce Neighbours, of Windsor, Va.; sister-in-law, Betty Neighbours, of Greensboro, N.C.; several grandchildren, step grandchildren, and great grandchildren; special friends, Judy Akers, Worth and Mary Lucas, and James and Debbie Horton; devoted and faithful companions, Martin, Sunny, Goldie and Ozzy.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2008, at Maberry Funeral Home with Virginia Painter officiating. Interment to follow in the Lee Cemetery. Military Rites by Floyd VFW Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at the funeral home.
