Neice, Barbara Jane

Barbara Jane Neice, 70, of Cascade Drive in Pembroke, departed this life Saturday morning, February 19, 2011, at Salem Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salem, Va., after a long illness. Born on Doe Creek near Pembroke September 30, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Liza Lucas Carter. She attended the Evangelistic Holiness Chapel in Pembroke, was a retired employee of Giles High School, and was preceded in death by her sisters, Edith Cumbee and Eloise Carter. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 49 years, Douglas Sherman Neice; her sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky Sherman and Lisa Barrett Neice of Glade Spring, Va., and Chris and Kim Fisher Neice of Pembroke; her grandchildren, Stephanie Neice Surber, Kimberly Neice Tetter, Brandon Neice, Caleb Neice, Noell Neice; her great-grandchildren, Lane O’Quinn, Clayton Tetter, Ethan Tetter, and Jonathan Marvin. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with Pastor Merrell Hedrick and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the Fillinger Cemetery at Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the services.
