kinkdae-garden-gateNorma Jo Townley Napier, age 84, of Pulaski, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Born in Clifton Forge, on November 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Marcus Townley and Grace Bailey Townley. Her beloved husband, Benny Napier, preceded her in death, as did her sister, Doris Townley Dula, and brother-in-law, Fred Dula.

Mrs. Napier grew up in Rainelle, West Virginia and was a graduate of West Virginia University. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in both the West Virginia and Pulaski County School Systems. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Pulaski, and also volunteered at Pulaski Daily Bread.

Mrs. Napier is survived by her daughter, Jo Ellen Napier of Seattle, Washington; her niece, Marsha Dula Matthews of Washington, DC; and her nephew, Fred Dula of Katy, Texas, as well as their families. In addition, she is survived by brothers-in-law Kenneth Napier and Warren Napier and sister-in-law Annabelle Napier, and their families.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 29, 2014, 2 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church in Pulaski, with the Reverend Hugh Kilgore officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will follow on Monday at noon in the Riverview Cemetery, Ronceverte, West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society, Pulaski Daily Bread, or the Salvation Army.
