Russell Bayes Myers, 91, of Narrows, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rich Creek. He was born in Franklin County, Virginia on September 17, 1920, and was the son of the late Ollie Myers and Minnie McBride Myers. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Edith Nolen Myers; two brothers, Robert Myers and Alvin Myers; an infant brother; and a special cousin who was like a brother, Carl Morris.

Russell was an agent with Home Beneficial Life Insurance for approximately 36 years. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Narrows, and was a former member of the Rich Creek Lions Club and the Giles Shrine Club. Fishing, hunting and card playing were some of his favorite pastimes. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are a son, Russell B. Myers Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Sevierville, Tennessee; a daughter, Shirley M. Sorrentino, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two grandsons, Chris Myers, of Sevierville and Benjamin Crewe and wife, Peggy, of Fredericksburg; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many special friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 6, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Shirley Larson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., prior to the service.
