Myers, Nora Margaret

Nora Margaret Myers, 73, of Hoges Chapel near Pembroke departed this life Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg after a long illness. Born in Dorchester County, Maryland on October 13, 1937 she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Bessie Wilkerson Short.

With her husband Buddy she operated Pembroke Grill, East End Sandwich Shop, and later the Buccaneer Inn. Nora was known for her quick wit and spicy speech.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Michael Quesenberry. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of forty-six years, George D. “Buddy” Myers; her daughters, Sandi Kimmey of Pearisburg and Karla Ratcliffe of Pearisburg; her grandchildren, Tasha Whitlow and fiancé, Alvin Smith, Miranda Ratcliffe, Alisha and husband, James Martin, Daniel Quesenberry and fiancé, Amanda Cumbee; her great-grandchildren, Brett, Ryan, Shiane, Taylor, Conner, Preston; her brothers, Harry Short and William Short; her sisters, Barbara Hurley and Jennie Tolley all of Maryland.

At Nora’s request her remains were cremated following her death and services were private. She wanted her family to “go on with their lives” and left them a bunch of great memories.
