John Bentley “Tommy” Myers, Jr. died peacefully in his home on January 20, 2022. He was involved with community and family throughout his life. Tommy was born in Christiansburg on May 25, 1928, to John B. Sr. (1902-1966) and Kathleen Wilson (1906-2002) Myers.

A proud member of the “Greatest Generation,” he experienced the Great Depression and World War II (US Coast Guard). He was active in the United Methodist Church. Additionally, he was a Mason and a member of the Lions Club. Occupations included being a Virginia State Police Trooper, a State Farm Insurance salesman, and his most satisfying job, his 3 term (24 years) as the Montgomery County Circuit Court Clerk.

His wife of 64 years, Annie Jennelle Myers, predeceased him 8 years ago in 2013. He was also predeceased by his sister, Joyce (Jack) Via; son, Daniel Lynn (1954-2019) Myers; and his daughter, Rebecca Ann (1955-2018) McCall. Survivors include his son, John B. III (Eileen) Staunton; daughter-in-law, Bonnie of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Emily Myers of Atlanta, GA, Tyler Myers of Christiansburg, Elizabeth (Andrew) Latimer of Pepper Pike, OH, Katherine (Micah Meskel) Myers of Portland, OR; and three great-grandchildren, Mia, Charles, and Lark.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be conducted at Park United Methodist Church on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 1 p.m. Interment will be private for family.

In lieu of flower, donations to Park United Methodist Church or any foundation benefiting Native Americans.
