Edith Nolen Myers, 86 of Narrows passed away Thursday, October 14th, 2010 at Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rich Creek.

She was born in Roanoke on December 5th, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Charles Eldridge and Elizabeth Gusler Nolen. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene, Glenn, and Roger Nolen; a sister, Loline Garrison.

Edith was a former employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 20 years service in the lab and as the first manager of the company’s store. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Narrows where she loved teaching Sunday School. An avid bridge player and seamstress, Edith was artistic and creative in nearly everything she did. Edith loved her family and friends, and especially adored children.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years, Russell Bayes Myers of Narrows; one son, Russell B. Myers, Jr. and wife Sharon of Sevierville, Tennessee; a daughter, Shirley M. Sorrentino of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two grandsons, Chris Myers of Sevierville and Benjamin Crewe wife Peggy of Fredericksburg; three great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many special friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday October 24th, 2010 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Shirley Larson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 PM, prior to the service.
