Lloyd Bennett Mutter, 82, of Mutter Lane in Pearisburg, passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning, July 15, 2015, at his home in the loving care of his family and hospice. Born in Russell County, VA on January 22, 1933, he was a son of the late George Thomas and Era Cox Mutter.

He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church in Wilburn Valley and was a respected self-employed businessman for over forty years where he saved many “soles” as a shoe cobbler. He was preceded in death by his parents, his seven brothers George Mutter, Roy Mutter, Elbert Mutter, Frank Mutter, Arthur Mutter, Campbell Mutter and Wayne Cox, and his five sisters Gussie Farmer, Vida Taylor, Rosey Cox, Mae Mutter, and Mary Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife and soul mate of 56 years, Lorena O’Quinn Mutter; his sons and daughters-in-law Harold and Judith Mutter of South Carolina and Wes and Christy Mutter of Pearisburg; his daughter and son-in-law Eva and Kevin Hudson of Pembroke; his grandchildren Alisha and Jacob Hudson of Pembroke, Noah Mutter of Pearisburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and the many others to whom he was “Paw Paw”.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 am in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with Pastor Gary Poff officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 8 pm. A special thanks from the family to Dr. Ken Walker, Carilion Giles Community Hospital nursing staff, Highland Ridge Rehab, Carilion Hospice and a very special aid, Loretta Martin. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Providence United Methodist Church, 399 Wilburn Valley Road, Pearisburg, VA 24134.
