Murphy, Helen Louise Jones

Helen Louise Jones Murphy of Radford, VA and formerly of Galax passed away peacefully March 21, 2009. She was born October 22, 1928 to the late Morris and Zona Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Heather Jones and her brothers Leon and Howard Jones.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Roberta and Terry Nester of Radford, grandsons David Nester of Radford, Sean Nester of Knoxville, TN, brother-in-law Bill Murphy of Galax and his wife Linda, nephews Jadd Murphy of Galax, Dennis Jones of Arizona, nieces Vickie Murphy of Florida, Lisa Ousley of Galax, Debbie Lange and Donna Leeds of California, and Denise Black of Arizona.

Helen was honorably discharged from the Navy, having served 4 years as a Navy Wave in the 1950s. She was retired from Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Co., with over 20 years of service.

The family wishes to thank the physicians and staff of Carilion New River Valley Medical Center and at the Radford Nursing and Rehab Center and the Radford EMS for their care during her illness.

Graveside services will be held March 23, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Vale United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. John Ousley officiating.
