Murphy, Elizabeth (Betty)

Elizabeth (Betty) Murphy, of Blacksburg and Hilton Head Island, S.C., passed away Thursday afternoon, March 31, 2011, at the Hilton Head Hospital. She was born in New York, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Curt Knoess and Charlotte Tillman Knoess. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Laurence Murphy. She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Holub, son-in-law, James Holub, and granddaughter, Patricia Holub, all of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; her granddaughter, Laura Holub, of San Diego, Calif.; her dear friend, Louise Medley, of Wytheville; and the dogs she loved so much, Maggie and Tommy. The family will receive visitors at the McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011.
