amem_lighthouse3.jpgCharles Peery Muncy III, 68, of Christiansburg, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2007. Born in Bland County, the son of the late Charles Peery Muncy Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Hounshell Muncy; he was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Hounshell Muncy and special uncle, Joseph Hounshell.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Margaret Kazee Muncy; son, Charles (Chuck) Peery Muncy IV of Christiansburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Annette M. and Bobby Sherrill of Chester, Elizabeth M. and Matthew Smyers of Richmond; stepdaughter, Karen A. McCann of Flagler Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Morgan and Lauren Sherrill, Ellie and Luke Smyers; stepgrandchildren, Christopher McCann and wife, Elizabeth of Radford; special aunt, Mozelle Hounshell of Rural Retreat; mother-in-law, Christina H. Ross of Christiansburg; brother-in-law, Richard M. Kazee and wife, Pam of Christiansburg; sister-in-law, Elizabeth K. Williams of Chapmanville, W.Va.; numerous other relatives including cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was a 1959 graduate of Virginia Tech, served in the U.S. Army and retired from the VA Department of Rehabilitative Services. The family would like to give a special thanks for their kindness and consideration to the following: Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Carilion New River Valley Hospital, Pulaski Health and Rehab Center, Pulaski Community Hospital, Dr. Badillo and his staff.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Mike Vest officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2007 at the Bland Cemetery in Bland County with military graveside rites by VFW Post #1184. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24068 or the Diabetes Association.
