Mullins, Howard Keith

On July 30, 2021, at 7:30 AM Howard Keith Mullins left the confines of this earth by life and soared to the arms of his savior, Jesus Christ. He departed with the encouraging words of his wife, June Harvey Mullins and his son, Derek Lee Mullins (Stacy) echoing in his ears. Waiting for him on the other side were his father, Walter Mullins; his mother, Nadine Johnson Mullins; and his beloved older brother Rex Allen Mullins. Also reaching for him with outstretched arms were his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Keith probably greeted each of this with a big smile and a familiar “Hi, Honey. How are you?”

Left behind with a void in their hearts that can never be filled are his step-son, Todd Ogle (Jessie); his step grandchildren, Grayson and Kayla Ogle; his many cousins, and numerous friends, including his four-footed feline friend, Corky. Corky came to Keith by the way of his Aunt Sallie’s passing. Corky is already feeling the loss. He doesn’t know what is happening, but he knows his buddy is gone.

Down through the years, Keith will always be remembered as a gentle, loving man who was constantly called upon to “fix” something whether it be a machine, a fall to the floor with no way to get up, a broken bone, or a broken heart. He spent a good portion of his days welding and supervising for Conn-Weld in Princeton, WV. For those of us who will mourn his passing, we will forever say, “If only Keith were here, he could fix it.” But Keith is not here and we must live as Christ would have us live, then this will be fixed for all eternity.

In remembering Keith, we also recall how gracious he was to everyone, never meeting a stranger, and always promoting peace among family and friends. The words of Matthew 5:9 ring in our ears when we think of him. “Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called the children of God.”

June would especially like to extend a special thanks to those who waited and watched with her and Derek and Stacy while Keith fought so valiantly to live. To Eddie and Claudia Mullins; Linda and Doug McGlothlin, Cory McGlothlin, and Bobby Huffman, she says thank you very much. She also extends a warm thank you to Bobby Huffman, Scott Barnes, Leonard Lane, William Jones, Dave Cline, Tommy James, Steve Thompson, and Craig Thachel for their roles in being pallbearers.
