Mosby, Virginia Brown

Virginia Brown Mosby, 95, of Blacksburg, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 8, 2007, surrounded by family and caregivers.

Virginia was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, on August 15, 1912 to the late Gay Anderson Brown and Walter Wise Brown. Virginia Anderson Brown and Henry Sackett Mosby were married in Lynchburg on July 12, 1941. Henry passed away in 1984.

Virginia and Henry were the loving parents of Henry Sackett Mosby, Jr. (Chip), Virginia Mosby Hayles (Gini), and Walter Brown Mosby, all of whom survive. Other survivors are Chip’s wife Brenda Martin Mosby; Gini’s husband George Hayles; and Walter’s wife Brenda Owen Mosby.

Surviving grandchildren are Bryan Keith Mosby, Leigh Anne Mosby Dziak and husband Doug, Justin Andrew Mosby and wife Kirsten, Aaron West Mosby, and Jana Marie Mosby; one great-grandchild, Audrey Ann Mosby also survives.

There are not adequate words to describe how Virginia will be missed. Her beautiful eyes, gentle smile, and loving heart, will remain forever in the memory of all her family.

Wonderful, loving care has been provided by caregivers Lois Mickens, Kathy Hilliard, and Margaret Hancock. Since July of 2006, Carilion Hospice has provided excellent support and gentle care for Virginia and the Mosby family. Venus Bigham, nurse with Carilion has been particularly compassionate and supportive.

In lieu of flowers, it was Virginia’s request that donations may be made to Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 144, Blacksburg, Va., 24063.

Graveside service conducted by the Rev. Alex Evans of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Spring Hill Cemetery, 3000 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, Va. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive in Blacksburg.
