Morris, William “Howard”
William “Howard” Morris, age 88 of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away Saturday, December 10th 2016 at Highland Ridge Nursing Home in Dublin VA. He had been a resident of Williamsburg for the last 50 years. He was born in McCoy Virginia the son of the late Taft and Vergie Morris, the oldest of seven children.
Howard was a Master Electrician. He retired from H. B Zachary of San Antonio TX in 2003. He was a good Electrician and worked all over the United States and once out of the Country. He was very proud of his craft and enjoyed the work and places it took him. His other love was fishing. He couldn’t wait to find a new river to fish in.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Morris, sisters Zana Webb and Rita Smith, brother, Willard Morris, former wife Barbara Morris, and step-son Robert Saunders. He is survived by his seven children, Gaynell Ratcliffe and husband Darrell of Lexington, VA, Danny Morris and wife Lou Ann of Pearisburg VA, Norma White and Husband Lee of Blountville TN, Johnny Morris and fiancée Claire Decker of Richmond VA, Karen Morris and wife Darla of Millmont, PA, Pam Sullivan and husband Kevin of Leesburg VA, Tricia Fitterer and husband Mike of Leesburg, VA, Step daughter Lisa Hill and husband Bill of Newport News VA, Step Daughter Shirl Ferris and husband Alan of Roanoke VA, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grand-children and nine great-great grand- children, six step grand-children and ten step great grand-children; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Joel Hart, Mary Ellen and Richard Graham, all of McCoy, Ricky Smith of Salem; brother and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Christine Morris, of Roanoke, Marie E. Morris, of Ellett. He is also survived by his loving sister-in-law and brother in-law Violet and Jim Chalkley of Williamsburg, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for W. Howard Morris will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13th 2016 at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, Blacksburg, Virginia with the Rev. Kevin Blankenship and Rev. Ben Whitaker officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the McCoy Funeral Home. Interment will be Wednesday 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News Virginia.
