Ruth Price Morris, 100, of Blacksburg and Brandon Oaks Retirement Community, Roanoke, Va. died Sunday, May 28, 2006.

She was born on January 11, 1906 in Blacksburg, Va. to the late J. Gilbert and Ruth Slusser Price. She was married to Fred C. Morris on August 26, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings, James, Lois, Andrew, and Tom.

After graduating from Southern Seminary, Ruth taught at Blacksburg High School and then worked in the treasurer’s Office of V.P.I. from 1935-1971. Ruth was active in the community as a member of the Methodist Church, Southside Garden Club, Virginia Federation of Music Clubs, D.A.R., and New Dimensions. Her greatest pleasure was traveling here and abroad. She also enjoyed gardening, handwork, bridge, and various social activities.

She is survived by her son Fred and his wife Gaynelle of Charlottesville, Va.; her daughter Patricia McVey and her husband Robert of Raleigh, N.C. Surviving grandchildren are Tom McVey, David McVey, James McVey and and wife Katherine; and great-grandson Alex McVey. She is also survived by her brother, David Price of Annandale, Va. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Reggie Tuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday one hour prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
