L. Elizabeth (Liz) Richardson Morris, 86 of Narrows, went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 24th, 2014 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 17th, 1927 in Bluefield, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Charles Newton and Alice Burton Richardson.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John W. (Bill) Morris; and a daughter, Sandra Kaye Morris Bowles.

Liz was loved and cherished by family and friends alike. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She served as a Girl Scout Leader when her children were young. She served as a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows for over 60 years, where her service included CWF Group Leader, CWF President, Deaconess, and as a member of several lay-witness teams.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna M. Dunn of Narrows; a grandson, Bobby Dunn and wife April of Fort Chiswell; granddaughters Missy Briggs and husband John of Narrows, and Pepper Fields and Mike Cregger of Pearisburg; great-grandchildren Blake Dunn, Alexis, Grayson and Shelby Biggs, and Emma and Sarah Lucas. She also leaves behind many special loved ones including nieces, nephews, a special cousin, in-home caregivers, and “phone” buddies. In addition she leaves behind her special four-legged companion, Zoe, her precious Maltese “puppy.”

The family would like to thank Carilion Giles Community Hospital, and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, especially the 7th floor (south) Cardiac Care Unit, and the Palliative Care Unit for the kindness and loving attention provided to her and her family during her recent admissions.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 27th, 2014 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Jim McDaniel and Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM.
