Charles Edward (Ed) Morris, 93, of Pearisburg, Va., and Knightdale, N.C., peacefully left this life Tuesday evening, October 26, 2010, at his home in Knightdale, N.C. Mr. Morris was born in Narrows, Va., on August 21, 1917, and was a son of the late Charles Earnest Morris and Elsie B. Blackburn Morris. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren Morris and John W. Morris; and one sister, Dorothy Morris. Mr. Morris was a member of the First Christian Church in Narrows, The Gideons, The Christian Mission and the Bible Bus Ministry. He leaves to cherish great memories, his wife of 69 years, Naomi Crabtree Morris; two sons, Eddie Morris and his wife, Carol, of Lakeland, Fla., and Philip Morris and his wife, Elsie, of Salem; one daughter, Debbie M. Gusler and husband, Rodney, of Wendall, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Stacy Poore, Kindra Steadham, Toree Dunleavy, Christi Boggs, Becky Rector, Stephanie Wilkes, Jason Gusler, and Melissa Morris; seven great-grandchildren, Breanna, Zachary, Garrett, Hayden, Abigail, Clayton, and Tre; and a great-grandchild to be born in 2011. Ed is also survived by a brother, Gene Morris, of Roanoke; a sisterin-law, Elizabeth Morris, of Narrows; sister-in-law and her husband, Thelma (Rabbit) and Kenneth Booth, of Pearisburg; brother-in-law, Phil Crabtree and his wife, Penny, of San Antonio, Texas; stepmotherin-law, Mae Crabtree, of Rich Creek; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home on Friday evening, October 29, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Gideon Bible Society.
