Morehead, Garland Alton

Garland Alton Morehead, 82, of Radford, formerly of Bland, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011. He was a member of Park United Methodist Church in Christiansburg and was retired from Kroger Co. as assistant manager with 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Margaret Lewey Morehead, son Gerald Lee Morehead, brother Lee Elwood Morehead, and sisters Stella Elmore, Janie Dillow and Thelma Morehead.

Survivors include his wife of 58 ½ years Frances Billings Morehead of Radford; son Daniel Luther Morehead of Simpsonville, SC; daughter Darlene M. Newberry of Christiansburg; three grandsons Dwayne Clapsaddle, Patrick Clapsaddle and his wife Kristy, and Brian Morehead; and great granddaughter Reagan Clapsaddle.

Funeral services will be held Sunday January 23, 2011 at 1 pm at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. J. Michael Sanborn officiating. Interment will be Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11 am at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA. The family will receive friends from 11 am until 1 pm Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
