Jerry Wayne Moore, 61, of Pulaski, Va., passed away late Thursday evening, August 12, 2010, in the Lewis-Gale Hospital. Born in Pulaski on June 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Cecil Lenord and Mary Ayers Moore. He was also preceded in death his inlaws, William Coy and Myrtle Grenra Hughes Lawson. Jerry was employed in the maintenance department at New River Community College. He was a veteran of the Army having served two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Peak Creek Mission of Prayer, VFW Post 1184, Pulaski and American Legion Post 7, Pulaski. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Kathy Lawson Moore; daughter and husband, Scylenea and Ernie Alley; grandsons, Hunter Drayton Alley and Drew Wayne Alley; sisters, Peggy and Keen Speed and Sharon and Billy Myers; brothers, Cecil Amon and Margie Moore and Danny Ford Moore; in-laws, Ben and Kathy Lawson, Mike, Bobby, Donald Lawson and Barbara L. and Tony Morris; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Gloria McKinne and Lucy Castle. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery, Draper, with VFW Post 1184 conducting graveside rites. The family will receive friends, Sunday afternoon from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be given to VFW Post 1184, Pulaski or to the family. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
