Moore, Hattie Loar
Hattie Loar Moore, 95, of Radford, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 20, 2010 in her home, on the “Powder Plant Road”, St. Rt. #114, Radford, Va., where she has lived for the past 72 years. She was predeceased by her husband, James A. Moore, to whom she was married for 62 years. She was a faithful member of Belview United Methodist Church, and a member of the Virginia May Chapter No. 92, Order of Eastern Star. She cooked for the children of Belview Elementary School for 21 years, retiring in 1979. She was a loving wife, mother and “granny” who joyfully shared her delicious meals and her beautiful handiwork. She will be remembered for her many beautiful quilts. Most importantly she will be remembered for her sweet spirit and quiet demeanor, her great strength and endurance. She was a daughter of the late Gratton and Essie Loar. Two brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Della “Pete” Caldwell, of Roanoke, Va.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Nancy Moore, Roanoke, Kenneth and Lillian Moore, Radford, Bill and Connie Moore, Christiansburg; ten grandchildren and spouses, Jenny and Ed Rogers, Jeff and Teresa Moore, Jim Moore, Jodie and John Tutalo, Kenneth “Ritche” and Pam Moore, Angie and Wayne Frye, Katrina Moore, Chris and Juanita Foster, Brandon and Christina Moore, and Lance and Julie Moore; and nineteen great-grandchildren; also, special friends, Curtis and Catherine Wilson, neighbors who were always there for her. The family would like to give a special thanks to friends and caregivers, Peggy Morris and Alice Persinger, who faithfully made Mom’s life so much easier, as well as past caregivers Angie Wharton and Ruby Austin. We are so grateful to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice, Christiansburg, for their kind and loving support. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March, 23 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Aaron Fitch and the Rev. Sebert Rorrer officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. Flowers will be appreciated, but the family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Belview United Methodist Church Parsonage Fund, 3619 Onyx Dr., Radford, Va., 24141.
